EKO is happy to announce that the first of the two mobilities of the double youth exchange has been completed successfully. The project The City for E[U] united 28 young participants from Italy, Greece, Portugal, and  North Macedonia. It was organised by the Italian organization ACMOS and took place in Turin, Italy, from 12 June to 19 June 2024.

Aims & Objectives of the project

The youth exchange, “The City for E(U),” was to bring young people to Italy to work together on European dreams for a different world. The main goal of this project was to involve 28 young people between the ages of 21 and 26 from 4 different European countries to re-imagine our cities regarding sustainability, inclusiveness and accessibility. The project aims to re-establish a healthy balance between the well-being of citizens and the available environmental resources, providing the participating group with the necessary skills and knowledge at first and then being able to build proposals and share best practices with local institutions and the community to which they belong.

More specifically, the objectives were:

  •  Build a positive international exchange experience in which participants can feel free to express themselves and their needs in a space of comfort and listening.
  • Provide participants with the analytical tools necessary to take a more critical and aware approach to the city concept.
  • Produce a final output that allows participants to experience forms of active citizenship and political participation from below.
  • Make known spaces and positive experiences of realities committed to social and environmental sustainability within their contexts.

Workshops & Activities of the project

Through this project, participants had the opportunity to build a positive international exchange experience, fostering self-expression and addressing their needs in a supportive and listening environment. Throughout the program, they were equipped with analytical tools for a more critical and conscious understanding of the concept of the City. They connected with inspiring local realities by engaging in various activities, such as active citizenship workshops, political participation discussions, and exploration of social and environmental sustainability practices. This experience allowed participants to develop key competencies such as critical thinking, teamwork, and active engagement, empowering them to embrace their roles as socially aware and active citizens.

It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for EKO’s team.

Anastasia, Aravella, Charikleia, Niki, Paulos and Vasiliki were the Greek participants whom we want to thank for all their contributions and collaboration throughout the project!

As EKO, we are very grateful for that amazing opportunity given to the Greek team. We thank our Italian partner ACMOS and the members of the hosting organization for all their hard work and for creating such an impactful project!

Thank you – Ευχαριστούμε – Grazie!
