EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been completed successfully. The project “Break gender roles” united 36 participants from Slovenia, Greece, Poland, Italy, Lithuania and Germany. It was organized by the Slovenian organization Movit and took place in Murska Sobota, Slovenia from 22 to 30 November 2024.
Aims & Objectives of the project
This project aims to raise awareness among young people about the ongoing issue of
gender inequality and discrimination. While many think gender discrimination is a thing of
the past, it still exists in subtle ways that we often overlook. Through this youth exchange,
we want to empower participants to fight against gender-based discrimination and
violence and strive for true gender equality.

Workshops & Activities of the project
Through this project, participants had the opportunity to develop critical thinking, foster a desire for societal progress, and raise awareness about gender equality. During the project, participants explored how gender stereotypes influence daily life—whether in school, the workplace, media, or family roles. They engaged in open dialogue, discussing the roles of men and women across different European countries, which encouraged mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
Facilitators created a safe and inclusive environment where participants could share their thoughts and experiences about gender roles and societal norms. Creative workshops were organized to brainstorm ways to promote respect for women’s rights and combat gender-based violence. By the end of the project, participants challenged stereotypes, questioned societal norms, and gained the tools to promote equality in their communities. In summary, all team members enhanced their competencies while contributing to the vision of a more inclusive and equal society.
It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for EKO’s team.
Athina, Dimitris, Maria, Melina, Iraklis, Marios, Eleni, Andreas, Marianna, Feuronia, Michail, and John were the amazing Greek team members whom we want to thank for all their contributions and collaboration throughout the project!
As EKO, we are very grateful for that amazing opportunity given to the Greek team. We thank our Slovenian partner Movit and the members of the hosting organization for all their hard work and for creating such an impactful project!
