Announcement: The Culture in Difference Youth Project Has Been Approved!

The European Union emphasises social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and youth empowerment as key drivers for a cohesive and diverse Europe. In line with this commitment, the “Culture in Difference” project has been launched to promote intercultural understanding and strengthen the role of young people in building inclusive societies.

This initiative, which will run from September 2025 to April 2027, aims to engage youth workers, trainers, and young people across six European countries – Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, Greece, and Malta – by equipping them with creative tools and inclusive learning approaches that foster dialogue between cultures, with a particular focus on Ethiopian diaspora communities.

Culture in Difference seeks to address pressing challenges such as social exclusion, limited representation of migrant communities, and the need for more inclusive spaces for youth participation. The project aims to empower young people—especially those with Ethiopian migration backgrounds—to actively express their identities, participate in community life, and contribute to social cohesion through creative and media-based practices.

Over 24 months, the project will support the formation of local youth groups and the development of an informal learning and mentoring framework to enhance intercultural competencies, creativity, and employability skills. Young people will take part in the co-creation of a cultural calendar and a Collective Memory Exhibition, developed in close collaboration with local diaspora communities. Through audiovisual storytelling and creative media production, participants will share personal and collective narratives, showcased in public events across partner countries.

Culture in Difference is designed to leave a lasting impact by strengthening intercultural literacy, promoting social inclusion, and empowering young people to become active agents of change in their communities. By valuing cultural diversity and creative expression, the project contributes to building a more inclusive, connected, and resilient Europe.
