CATA: Environmental awareness through alimentation

Youth exchange 07/08/2023 – 14/08/2023 in Galicia, Spain

EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been successfully completed. The project “Environmental awareness through alimentation” united 25 young participants from Portugal, Greece, Spain, Romania and Turkey. It was organized by the Italian organization Talasa Association, and took place in Galicia (Spain) from 07 to 14 of August 2023. 

 

 

Aims & Objectives of the project 

 

The project aimed to help us to think about how we can stop the Climate Crisis, as a society and as individuals αnd to be aware of how our daily choices contribute to the Climate Crisis and how this affects our daily life. The participants learned about civic and governmental initiatives in the environmental field. They acquired knowledge in the entrepreneurship field and they went further and deeper into social entrepreneurship. Knowledge, resources and opportunities about Erasmus+ were learnt by participants as well. 

 

More specifically the objectives were:

 

  • – creating awareness about environmental problems 
  • – ways to promote and contribute to a more sustainable Europe
  • – to comprehend the Circular Economy, strategies, and benefits
  • – physical and Mental Health + greener lifestyle
  • – to deepen understanding of gender perspectives, challenge gender biases, promote inclusivity

Workshops & Activities of the project 

 

Through this project, participants had the opportunity to get better in some key competencies such as multilingual competence, personal, social and learning to learn competences. During  the week, they worked with a non-formal methodology, with group dynamics, they worked in small groups, had creative sustainable workshops, presentations and brainstorming with the others. In summary, all team members developed different skills and competencies while acquiring new environmental knowledge. They were able to develop skills such as a sense of initiative, creativity, teamwork, the ability to energize, practice languages, reflection and critical thinking… and definitely lots of certain skills in order to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
