EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing training course has been completed successfully. The project “Courageous Conversations, Exploring Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion in Youth Work” united 24 participants from Greece, Bulgária, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Armenia, Georgia, Belgium, Slovakia and Poland. It was organised by the Bulgarian organisation Via Civic and took place in Dobrinishte, Bulgaria, from 26 March to 3 April 2025.
Aims & Objectives of the project
This Erasmus + training course aims to help youth workers gain the skills and confidence they need to work with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). The ultimate goal is to teach participants how to understand differences, address biases, and create spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.
More specifically, the project aims to:
– Deepen Understanding: Explore key concepts like diversity, equity, inclusion, privilege, stereotype and prejudice, and learn how to address barriers to inclusion in youth work.
– Develop Practical Skills: Build tools for empathy, diversity and inclusion sensitivity and navigate difficult conversations to create inclusive and supportive environments.
– Inspire Action: Learn to advocate for fairness and inclusion through storytelling, nonviolent communication, dialogue and participatory activities that drive positive change.
Workshops & Activities of the project
This Erasmus+ training course allowed youth workers to deepen their understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Participants engaged in discussions that helped them recognise and challenge biases, while gaining insight into creating inclusive environments where everyone feels seen and respected.
Throughout the course, they built practical skills to navigate sensitive topics and foster empathy in their work. The focus was on developing strategies to address inclusion barriers and create safe spaces for all young people, regardless of their backgrounds.
By the end of the course, participants were equipped to assume a leadership role in promoting fairness and inclusion. They left equipped with new knowledge and a renewed commitment to driving change, utilising tools such as storytelling and dialogue to make a tangible difference in their communities.
It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for EKO’s team.
Sylvia and Anastasia were the amazing Greek team members whom we want to thank for all their contributions and collaboration throughout the project!
As EKO, we are very grateful for that amazing opportunity given to the Greek team. We thank our Bulgarian partner, Via Civic, and the members of the hosting organisation for all their hard work and for creating such an impactful project!
Thank you – Ευχαριστούμε – Благодаря!
