EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing training course has been completed successfully. The project Fake Reality Challenge” united participants from Spain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, and Portugal. It was organised by the Spanish organisation “Sustinea”, and took place in Ourense, Galicia, Spain, from 02 to 08 June 2026.

Aims & Objectives of the project

The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of youth workers and young people to critically navigate today’s digital information environment, promoting media literacy, active citizenship, and responsible participation in society. Through non-formal education and intercultural learning, the project sought to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to identify and challenge disinformation, while fostering authentic communication and civic engagement.

Specifically, the project sought to:

– Develop participants’ ability to identify, analyse, and combat fake news, misinformation, and disinformation in digital environments.

– Strengthen critical thinking, media literacy, and responsible decision-making skills when consuming and sharing information online.

– Raise awareness about the impact of social media, digital identity, and the risks associated with seeking validation through online recognition.

– Promote healthy and responsible use of digital media, fostering authentic self-expression and personal wellbeing.

Workshops & Activities of the project

The training course was based on non-formal education methodologies and experiential learning, creating a dynamic environment for participants to explore the challenges and opportunities of living in the digital age. Through interactive workshops, simulations, discussions, and collaborative activities, participants examined the role of media and communication in shaping individual perceptions and societal realities.

Participants engaged in activities focused on critical media analysis, identifying fake news, understanding manipulation techniques, and developing strategies to promote responsible information consumption. Various educational tools such as role-playing exercises, theatre activities, debates, video-forums, social media analysis, creative workshops, and intercultural learning sessions encouraged active participation and reflection.

The programme also included activities designed to strengthen communication skills, empathy, teamwork, and conflict resolution, while promoting personal growth and self-confidence. Participants explored opportunities for volunteering, activism, and civic participation, learning how to contribute positively to their communities and engage in democratic processes. The training course contributed to participants’ professional and personal development by increasing their digital resilience, civic awareness, and capacity to act as multipliers within their communities. Furthermore, it strengthened international cooperation among youth organisations and promoted the values of active citizenship, social responsibility, and European cooperation.
