EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been completed successfully. The project “ Foody” united 30 participants from Turkey, Italy, Spain, Greece, Croatia and North Macedonia. It was organised by the Croatian organisation Argonauta, and took place in Šibenik, Croatia, from 8 to 16 April 2025.

Aims & Objectives of the project

The main goal of this project is to empower young people through cooking, fostering collaboration, skill development and healthy habits. This allowed a cultural exchange through local ingredients, recipes and personal experiences related to the food traditions, adding an emotional connection. Moreover, it raised awareness of the impact of participants’ habits regarding food on the environment, highlighting the importance of consuming local products.

More specifically, the project aims to:

– Empower young people to proactively approach their well-being by understanding the connection between nutrition, lifestyle, and health. (Mediterranean Diet and Health)

– Encourage young people to explore and appreciate cultural heritage connected with diet traditions as a tool for fostering identity, community engagement, and intercultural dialogue. (Mediterranean Diet and Tradition/Heritage)

– Inspire young people to see: local food systems, sustainable agriculture, and gastronomy (one of these) as potential motivation for entrepreneurial opportunities. (Mediterranean Diet and Economy)

– Empower youth to become active change agents in their communities by adopting and promoting sustainable food practices. (Mediterranean Diet and Ecology)

– Give young people space to explore and critically assess the role of innovation and technology in sustainable food systems. (Mediterranean Diet and Food Industry).

Workshops & Activities of the project

This project empowered young people through cooking, promoting teamwork, skill development, and healthy habits. By exploring local ingredients, recipes, and cultural food traditions, participants formed emotional connections while raising awareness about the environmental impact of food choices and the importance of local products.

They learned how nutrition and lifestyle are linked to health and well-being, and discovered the Mediterranean diet as a tool for cultural identity and community engagement. The project also sparked interest in sustainable food systems and agriculture, encouraging youth to explore these areas as entrepreneurial opportunities.

Through collaboration, participants embraced sustainable food practices and reflected on the role of innovation in shaping food systems. Moreover, they were equipped to become advocates for sustainable living and contribute to a more eco-conscious community.
