Go 4 Green – Local Event 3 (Clean up)

EKO is excited to announce the completion of its third local event, part of the KA2 project “Go 4 Green”, that was held on 11/05/2025 . The project aims to promote active citizenship, empower youth, and combat climate change through sports and outdoor activities.

A group of enthusiastic teenagers, guided by EKO’s youth workers and armed with gloves, bags, and determination, set out to clean up litter along the coastline. Through this hands-on experience, they learned firsthand about the effects of pollution on marine life and local ecosystems.

The event went beyond simply collecting trash. Participants engaged in discussions about environmental issues, explored the impact of human activity on oceans, and reflected on how small individual actions can collectively make a difference. By combining cleanup efforts with social and educational experiences, the event encouraged teenagers to see themselves as active contributors to climate solutions.

A recurring question during the cleanup was, “How did this end up here?” Among the most common items collected were plastic bags, glass, fishing nets, and fishing lines. Surprisingly, the team also discovered a buried plastic barrel and a small children’s toy car. By the end of the day, the group had collected 8 bags of trash, leaving the beach cleaner and healthier than before.

The energy, commitment, and teamwork displayed by the teenagers highlighted that young people are ready to take responsibility for their environment. As the sun set over the cleaned shoreline, it was evident that experiences like this leave lasting impressions and inspire action far beyond the event itself.

Stay tuned for the next event and more opportunities to make a positive impact!
