EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing training course has been completed successfully. The project “Power of Stories” was organised by the Polish organisation “Autokreacja”, and took place in Puck, Poland, from 13 to 21 April 2026.
Aims & Objectives of the project
The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to use digital storytelling as an innovative and inclusive tool in their daily youth work practice, fostering youth participation, inclusion, and active citizenship across Europe.
Specifically, the project sought to develop youth workers’ understanding of digital storytelling (Berkeley Method) and its relevance for empowering young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, while fostering the exchange of good practices on how digital storytelling can be implemented in youth work, projects, and non-formal education contexts. The support of youth workers in using storytelling as a means to amplify young people’s voices, encourage self-expression, and promote inclusion and active participation was also an important objective
Workshops & Activities of the project
The training course was based on non-formal education methods and followed a learning by doing approach. Participants were actively engaged in interactive workshops and experiential learning activities, where each participant created their own digital story (short film) in order to fully experience and understand the method.
Through presentations, discussions, and peer-learning activities, participants explored the key elements of digital storytelling, including how to develop a personal narrative, use visuals to express emotions, and combine audio and imagery into meaningful stories. No prior experience in filmmaking was required, making the project accessible to newcomers who were open and eager to learn new skills.
In the second part of the training, participants focused on analysing digital storytelling as a method and learning how to apply it in youth work. Special emphasis was placed on working with young people at risk of exclusion and adapting the method to different local contexts and target groups.
Participants also engaged in collaborative workshops, group work, and discussions, supporting knowledge exchange and the co-creation of ideas, tools, and approaches for integrating digital storytelling into their own youth work practice and organisational strategies. The process encouraged mutual respect, active listening, and inclusion, reinforcing the idea that everyone has a story worth telling.
It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for EKO’s team.
Irela, Maria and Anna were the amazing Greek team members whom we want to thank for all their contributions and collaboration throughout the project!
As EKO, we are very grateful for that amazing opportunity given to the Greek team. We thank our Polish partner, Autokreacja, and the members of the hosting organisation for all their hard work and for creating such an impactful project!
