EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been completed successfully. The project “Set the story straight” united 25 young participants from Poland, Germany, Greece, Portugal and Sweden. It was organized by the Swedish organization Globala Kronoberg and took place in Orrefors, Sweden from 06 – 14 August 2024. 

Aims & Objectives of the project 

The aim of the youth exchange was to embark on a transformative journey, delving into the realms of media, art, and pop culture to unravel the intricacies of gender and sexuality representation. The project was an opportunity to shape a narrative that challenges norms and sparks positive change. 

More specifically the objectives were:

•  Develop critical media literacy as consumers and creators

• Awareness of global variations in media impact on perceptions.

• Understand and challenge media’s influence on social identity and LGBTQ+ representation

• Foster European values and connections

Workshops & Activities of the project 

Through this project, participants had the opportunity to get better in some key competencies such as multilingual competence, personal, social and learning to learn competence. During  the week, they worked with non-formal education methodology, Energizers, Ice-breakers, Games & Team-building. All team members developed different skills and competencies while acquiring new knowledge. Through different presentations and workshops they gained knowledge on topics like media stereotypes identification, re-enactment of Pop Culture, and exercises on creating safe content. They explored non-verbal communication through dance, theater, and body language, with a focus on LGBTQIA+ expressions of struggle. Also they developed their skills on active listening and participation techniques.
