Inclusive Communication and the Creation of Safe Spaces

The EKO Youth Club’s latest monthly meeting brought together young people to explore inclusive communication and the creation of safe spaces, facilitated by KMOP civil society organisation.

Language and inclusive communication

Participants explored which words and expressions carry unintended harm and which alternatives are preferred. It was a reminder that inclusive language is about genuinely listening to the communities we are talking about.

Discussion on inclusivity and discrimination

An open discussion touched on how discrimination shows up in everyday life — both overtly and subtly. Participants shared personal reflections, building a dialogue rooted in empathy and active listening.

The word game: describing without labelling

In a fun interactive game, participants described concepts related to a person or minority group without using the words typically associated with them. It sparked great debate and showed how deeply vocabulary shapes our assumptions.

A big thank you to KMOP for a thoughtful and impactful session. We left with new awareness and a renewed commitment to communication that includes rather than excludes.
