YOUTH VOICES ON CLIMATE CHANGE: NEEDS ASSESSMENT REPORT

As part of the effective Erasmus+ project Echoes, an interesting Needs Assessment Report has just been published. ECHOES is a 2-years project co-funded by the European Union that aims to improve and strengthen the role of young people and youth workers in climate action across Europe. In particular, this project focuses on climate change awareness, policy engagement, and the amplification of youth voices, in order to empower the next generation of climate advocates.

With the aim of reaching ECHOES major objectives, this report has been developed to examine the various viewpoints, engagement levels, and support needs of young people in the climate sector. The questionnaire used to compile this report highlights the challenges youth face and the resources they consider essential for effective climate advocacy.

The findings reveal notable gaps in climate awareness, policy involvement, and resource accessibility, along with a sense of being excluded from decision-making processes. These gaps unveil a clear need for improved education, advocacy tools, mental health support, and resources to foster active citizenship in climate-related matters.
