We are grateful for the successful completion of the training course that was held in Athens from 1- 5 July, in cooperation of the Entrepreneurship and Social Economy Group (EKO) with the Erasmus partners: Espacio Geranios EG (Spain), Youth Proaktiv YPA (Belgium), Entergrasyon Derneği EIG (Turkey) and Institute for Research in Circular Economy and Environment „Ernest Lupan” (IRCEM) (Romania). As a part of the Erasmus+ KA220 You Cycle project which encourages social entrepreneurship in the field of the circular economy. A total of 25 participants from Greece, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, and Romania attended the training course.

The training covered a variety of activities in the realms of social entrepreneurship and the circular economy. Participants were introduced to the fundamental differences between the circular and linear economies. Furthermore, they were apprised of the significance of sustainable urban planning in different cities. The trainees spent two days completing practical exercises focused on design thinking, emphasizing its significance in the realm of social entrepreneurship. Participants also delved into the significance and practical applications of social entrepreneurship, distinguishing it from traditional entrepreneurship. The program addressed mental health topics, emphasizing the importance of empathy and motivation in the process of designing one’s business.

Moreover, the participants visited three companies in Athens which are: Kyklo slow living & zero Waste, Socrates Dog Shelter, and Threads of Hope Hellas. These companies are active in circular economy and/ or social entrepreneurship. The participants gained insights into the operational mechanisms of these companies and how they achieveδ economic sustainability.

The training not only provided knowledge and skills, but also nurtured a feeling of togetherness and shared purpose among the participants. It was really an inspiring and empowering journey that made everybody feel motivated to pursue their journey in creating a more sustainable world. The training was a great triumph, with all participants leaving with fresh insights, skills and inspiration to make a positive impact in their communities. The bonds created during the training will certainly result in future collaborations and projects that will continue to promote sustainability and social entrepreneurship.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in and contributed to make this training a great experience.
