STELLA Project: Empowering Youth Through Sport for Environmental Sustainability in the EU

STELLA (Sport as a Tool for Environmental Sustainability Learning) is an Erasmus+ KA220- Cooperation partnership in youth projects whose priority is to improve youth environmental education by fostering ethical behavior through sports-related tools.

Summary

The European Union recognizes the intersection of sustainability and sport as crucial for promoting environmental responsibility and social cohesion. By advocating for sustainable practices in sports organizations and events, the EU aims to minimize sports’ ecological footprint while using its unifying power to raise awareness about climate change. The EU Sport Policy emphasizes sustainable infrastructure, eco-friendly event management, and healthy lifestyles. In this context, the “STELLA” project, focused on Sport as a Tool for Environmental Sustainability Learning, aims to equip young people and activists with tools to adopt sustainable behaviors and reduce their environmental impact in their communities. The project empowers youth workers and leaders in five countries to educate and engage youth on sustainability issues, fostering active citizenship and social entrepreneurship.
