In the context of the European Youth Week “Shape It, Move It, Be It”, the European Commission provided an opportunity for organizations implementing “Erasmus+/Youth” programs to mobilize children and young people to promote the values of solidarity, social inclusion, democracy and active citizenship. EKO responded with enthusiasm to the call of the National Youth Coordination and Lifelong Learning Coordination Unit, by designing and organizing an innovative action of artistic intervention where secondary school students and children improvised capturing these values on a canvas by painting them in a collective art work in order to sensitize their local community. They gave them shape, made them move and imposed them as part of our everyday life, made them be. The event took place on May 5 and 6 2017, in collaboration with the 2nd Lyceum of Glyka Nera of Peania Municipality under the guidance of its director Ms. Vasiliki Stathaki. The artistic work of the students was guided by the painter Ms. Gina Karampelou, while the entire project was recorded and reproduced in photos and a short film in order to promote and diffuse the action in the social media. The event was addressed by the Deputy Mayor of Peania Municipality Mr. Artemis Vayonakis. The entire event was planned and coordinated by EKO and supported by its president, Ms. Kitty Panourgia and EKO’s members. The event is funded by the Erasmus+ Youth Program and the Eurodesk Network.
