EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been completed successfully. The mobility was part of the KA2 project “Go for Green” and united 27 young participants from Greece, Italy and Portugal. It was organized by the Portuguese organization Padre Jose Augusto da Fonseca School Group, and took place in Aguiar da Beira, Portugal from 03 September – 09 September 2024.
Aims & Objectives of the project
The youth exchange aimed to prepare young people for effective work with the communities, after the previous training period. The project was held during the celebrations of the European Week of Sport, so it is intended to create a set of activities for young people to practice their transversal skills for active participation in society, as well as to develop skills related to social entrepreneurship.
More specifically the objectives were:
Workshops & Activities of the project
Through this project, participants had the opportunity to get better in some key competencies such as multilingual competence, personal, social and learning to learn competence. During the week, they worked with non-formal education methodology. The program included a mix of presentations, icebreakers, and teambuilding activities at the local school to foster group cohesion. Participants were introduced to orientation, a popular local sport, and had the chance to practice it in both the forest and village. Sports activities such as climbing, rappelling, mountain biking, canoeing on a river beach, and beach volleyball were also planned. Recreational highlights included karaoke night, soccer, pavilion games, and an afternoon at the municipal swimming pool in Aguiar da Beira. Finally, participants met the mayor and enjoyed an evening visit to the Stella Maris Astronomy Observatory.
