EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been completed successfully. The project “Modernizeu” united 24 young participants from Spain, Italy, Hungary, Netherlands, Greece and Poland. It was organized by the Spanish organization Ayuntamiento de Planes and took place in Planes, Community of Valencia (Spain) from 15 to 23 May 2024.

Aims & Objectives of the project

The aim of the youth exchange “Modernizeu” was to empower young participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become active change agents in their rural mountain communities. Also, to transform participants into proactive contributors to sustainable economic development and cultural preservation in their regions.

More specifically the objectives were:

  • To facilitate intercultural learning and understanding among participants from different European countries, fostering a sense of European citizenship.
  • To enhance the practical skills and competences of participants in areas such as traditional craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and project management.
  • To strengthen youth networks and engagement by establishing an alumni network and encouraging participants to initiate community projects.

Workshops & Activities of the project

Through this project, participants had the opportunity to work with a non-formal methodology on topics like traditional crafts, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and project management. During the project, they participated in activities that were icebreakers, energizers, team/group work, interactive and creative workshops, local visits, guest visits, intercultural nights etc. Through these activities, participants were encouraged to share their experiences, and values and to foster a sense of European citizenship.

It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for EKO’s team

Ioanna, Vasilis, Maria, Artemios, and Georgia were the amazing Greek team members whom we want to thank for all their contributions and collaboration throughout the project!
