The Compass

Youth exchange 20/04/2024 – 29/04/2024 in Baena, Spain

EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been completed successfully. The project “The Compass” united 24 young participants from Hungary, Portugal, Greece, Norway, Spain and Italy. It was organized by the Spanish organization Asociación El Sur de Europa and took place in Baena (Spain) from 20 to 29 April 2024.

Aims & Objectives of the project

The aim of the training course “The Compass” was to raise awareness on some issues such as xenophobia between countries, which in many cases makes the situation of these young people even more difficult when it comes to integrating.

More specifically the objectives were:

  • To achieve a correct integration of young emigrants, thus allowing their integration into

society and developing skills such as European citizenship.

  •  To Raise awareness about the situation of immigrants and avoid xenophobic behavior. Thus, we seek to meet the need to eliminate extreme positions that arise, many times, from ignorance.
  • To Know the barriers and stereotypes that revolve around immigration.
  • To Develop and implement each of the aforementioned phases so that the participants get to know it firsthand.
  • To able to function in any country in the world thanks to the development of your personal, professional, and social skills.

Workshops & Activities of the project

Through this project, participants had the opportunity to work with a non-formal methodology on topics like immigrant barriers and unemployment. During the exchange, non-formal education

methods and methods that assure balance between theory and practice were used such as

presentations, group works, workshops, games, role plays, exercises etc. Participants had the chance to learn about Erasmus+, to explore Baenas, to exchange information about the migration in each participating country, to improve their skill for the job market and to learn the best ways to find a job. Also, intercultural nights were organized and traditional food and dances from all over Europe were shared. Overall, everyone had a great experience and participants came back with new knowledge and good memories.

It is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for EKO’s team

Athanasios, Aretina, Thomas, and Angeliki were the members of this amazing Greek team whom we really want to thank for all their contribution and collaboration throughout the project!

As EKO, we are very grateful for that amazing opportunity given to the Greek team and we thank our Spanish partner  Asociación El Sur de Europa and the members of the hosting organization for all their hard work and for creating such an impactful project!
