Youth Work & sustainable social media

Training course  26/11/2023 – 01/12/2023 in Madrid, Spain

EKO is happy to announce that one more amazing youth exchange has been successfully completed. The project “Youth Work & sustainable social media” united 24 young participants from Spain, Hungary, Greece, Moldova, Slovenia, Romania, Turkey, Albania, Georgia, Serbia, North Macedonia and Armenia. It was organized by the Spanish organization ICmedia, and took place in Madrid, Spain  from 26 of November  to 01 of December 2023. 

 

Aims & Objectives of the project 

 

The project aimed to gather youth workers to gain knowledge and to place youth work and the non-formal work conducted with young people and disadvantaged young people, as a key-role player in the shape of young people sustainable behaviors through a quality and responsible use of social media networks both as influencers and consumers. Knowledge, resources and opportunities about Erasmus+ were learnt by participants as well. 

 

More specifically the objectives were:

– Enlight youth workers on the main challenges for sustainability and climate change posted by

disinformation spread through social media affecting young people.

– Provide youth workers with a better knowledge on social media channels and its specific use by

young people.

– Provide youth workers with successful initiatives that can be used and replicated among the youth to ensure a quality, reliable and safe use of social media networks.

– Promote sustainable and positive climate leadership among youth work and young people

through positive online influence.

– Provide youth workers with specific tools and methods to help them reach and engage with

specific disadvantaged youth groups ensuring to include them in the fight against climate change

disinformation and negative behaviors online.

 

Workshops & Activities of the project 

 

Through this project, participants had the opportunity to get better in some key competencies such as multilingual competence, personal, social and learning to learn competence. During  the week, the had many workshops and non formal activities. More specifically, they had informative presentations for sustainable and reliable influencers, and based on what they learned they were asked to create their own presentations and data tables. Also, they focused on their personal social media through fun activities and constructive criticism.
