While Europe is facing a major health crisis with a wider social impact, the European Union is falling short in having a truly shared strategy.  Although the continent of Europe has essentially become the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic, countermeasures were primarily enforced at a national level, with minimal coordination among EU-member states.
